THE NAME – SILVERBACK RECORDING

The emblem of reggae is the iconic Lion of Judah and for me, the emblem of dub is the silverback gorilla – a dark, heavy, mystical peaceful animal who is extremely tolerant of others but commands the respect that he deserves.

THE LABEL

The label has been set up for two main reasons. One is to promote dub-inspired music to the masses and the other to raise funds and awareness for charities and causes close to the label’s heart. A monthly donation from the label goes to Wildlife Direct, they support people and communities who put their lives on the line protecting some of the world’s most endangered animals. A section of their work supports the amazing Congo Rangers who help protect the remaining 700 mountain gorillas left in the world.
